Publicly traded e-commerce advertising automation platform Klaviyo has agreed to amass Company, a three-year-old AI-powered buyer success startup based by serial entrepreneur Elias Torres. The phrases of the deal weren’t disclosed.
Based in 2023, Agency had raised $32 million from traders together with Sequoia, Menlo Ventures, and Felicis previous to the acquisition.
As a part of the deal, Torres (pictured left) will be part of Klaviyo as chief product officer (CPO), main Company’s 25-person group to speed up the event and enlargement of Klaviyo’s AI brokers: Composer, which builds advertising campaigns, and Buyer Agent, which handles post-sale help like returns and order monitoring
“Elias and the group constructed an ideal product with Company,” Klaviyo co-founder and CEO Andrew Bialecki (pictured proper) informed TechCrunch. “We’re going to take that and mix it with our agent merchandise and attempt to deliver that to 200,000 companies—and hopefully to hundreds of thousands extra over the subsequent couple of years.”
For Torres, becoming a member of Klaviyo brings his profession full circle. He’s no stranger to M&A exits, having co-founded Performable (acquired by HubSpot in 2011) and later Drift, the place he served as CTO for eight years till its $1.2 billion sale to Vista Equity in 2021.
Again in 2010 at Performable, Torres employed Bialecki, who had graduated from Harvard two years earlier, as one among that startup’s first engineers. Torres mentored Bialecki on early-stage startup dynamics. “He soaked it up in a brief period of time,” Torres recalled of their time working collectively.
Bialecki co-founded Klaviyo, which he initially bootstrapped, shortly after leaving Performable. When Klaviyo raised its first outdoors capital in 2015, Bialecki invited Torres to again the seed spherical as an angel investor.
Klaviyo went on to finish a high-profile IPO in September 2023 at a $9.2 billion valuation.
Whereas Klaviyo’s inventory has taken a success alongside different SaaS corporations, Torres and Bialecki imagine the platform’s years of buyer knowledge give its AI brokers a bonus over opponents like Decagon and Sierra.
“Elias and I coalesced on the mission of how we offer brokers for companies that they may give to their clients,” Bialecki mentioned, including that he’s excited to work with Torres once more as he did at the start of the cloud period. “It’s the subsequent large tech revolution: brokers. Let’s get the band again collectively, and let’s go construct.”
